Create a New Document Type

A Document Type can be categorised based on the industry the supplier and plant belong to. They can be supplier related documents and plant related documents. These documents define the nature of their business, various reports, catalogues, maintenance reports, research and development guides and so on.

Using DMS, you can organize and manage the documents related to the supplier and/or plant.

Consider you wish to create a new document type.

To create a new document type:

  1. On the navigation menu, click the Reference Data library app.

    Result: The Search page is displayed.

  2. Click the Document List reference type from the Type filter drop-down and click Apply.

    Result: A list of documents is displayed.

  3. Click on the dms-add-icon icon.

Result: The Reference Data Attributes split window is displayed.

  1. Perform the following and click Save.
Fields You must
Document Type Code Enter the supplier type code (For example: CI, short form of Commercial Invoice)
Document Type Enter the supplier type code (For example: Commercial Invoice)
Is Required Document? Select 'True' or 'False' to indicate whether the document is required or not
Is Expiration Date Required? Select 'True' or 'False' to indicate whether an expiration date is required

Result: The newly created document type is displayed.

Upon creating the document type, you can map them to the Supplier Type and Plant Type.
