The application lets you download thing domain-specific templates via the Quick Actions app. You can select various options such as Entity Types, Locales, Classification or Enhancer Attribute Values, Attributes, Relationships, and Advanced Options to customize the template, which can then be downloaded in Excel or CSV formats.

To download domain-specific template:

  1. On the navigation menu, click Quick Actions> Thing Domain.

Result: The Download Template Thing Domain page is displayed.

Note:

By default, Download in Excel format is selected.

  1. Select Download format Excel or CSV as per your requirement.

  1. Select the Entity Types from the Available column and click on any of the following buttons.
    • ">>" to move the entries in batches of 100 from the Available column to the Selected column.
    • ">" to move the selected entry from the Available column to the Selected column.
    • "<" to move the selected entry from the Selected column to the Available column.
    • "<<" to move all the entries from the Selected column to the Available column.

  1. Expand the Select Locales accordion to display the locales in the Available column.
Notes
  • By default, SDL locale is displayed in the Selected column.
  • The locales in the Available column is displayed based on the selected contexts. In this scenario, 'German – Germany' and 'German Austria' locales are displayed as 'Germany' context is selected.
  1. Select the locale from Available column and click on any of the following buttons:
    • ">>" to move all the entries from the Available column to the Selected column.
    • ">" to move the selected entry from the Available column to the Selected column.
    • "<" to move the selected entry from the Selected column to the Available column.
    • "<<" to move all the entries from the Selected column to the Available column.

  1. Expand the Select Classification/Additional Context Attributes values accordion to display and select the classification/additional context attributes values.

  2. Expand the Select Attributes accordion to display a list of attributes in the Available column. The attributes that are displayed are based on the selected Contexts. You can also select Include All checkbox to include all the attributes that are displayed in the Available column.

Note:

Out-of-the-box (OOTB) the application displays attributes of Thing and Taxonomy Model in the Available column of the Attributes accordion.

  1. Select the attributes from the Available column and click on any of the following buttons:
    • ">>" to move all the entries from the Available column to the Selected column.
    • ">" to move the selected entry from the Available column to the Selected column.
    • "<" to move the selected entry from the Selected column to the Available column.
    • "<<" to move all the entries from the Selected column to the Available column.

Checkbox Actions
Include All Classification Based Attributes Select this checkbox to download all classification based attributes of all the classification and/or additional context attribute(s) value(s). You can also select this checkbox in addition to the selected attributes from the Available column.
Include All Select this checkbox to download all Thing domain attributes and all classification based attributes of all the classification and/or additional context attribute(s) value(s).
* If you select both checkboxes, the application downloads all the attributes as same as the Include All checkbox.
* If you select any classification/additional context attribute(s) value(s), the Include All Classification Based Attributes or Include All checkbox downloads all classification based attributes of the selected classification and/or additional context attribute(s) value(s) only and additionally Thing domain attributes in case of Include All checkbox.
Note:

You can select the attribute and drag UP or DOWN to reorder the attribute display sequence in the Selected grid. When you export the entities (excel or CSV), the attributes are displayed based on the order that you have selected. Attribute reordering works only when sort is disable in the Selected grid.

  1. Expand the Select Relationships accordion to display a list of relationships in the Available column. The relationships that are displayed are based on the selected contexts. You can also select Include All checkbox to include all the relationships that are displayed in the Available column.

  2. Select the relationship from the Available column and click on any of the following buttons:

    • ">>" to move all the entries from the Available column to the Selected column.
    • ">" to move the selected entry from the Available column to the Selected column.
    • "<" to move the selected entry from the Selected column to the Available column.
    • "<<" to move all the entries from the Selected column to the Available column.

  1. Expand the Advanced Options accordion and select the Writable Attributes Only checkbox to download attributes and/or relationships that have WRITE permission in the Excel template.

Note:

By default, the Writable Attributes Only checkbox is not selected. Hover over the i icon to display “Click to know more” tooltip. Click on i icon to display the description of the writable attributes field.

  1. Click Download to download the template that consists of all the attributes and relationships based on the selected contexts, locales, and classification/enhancer attributes.
    Or
    Click Download All to download all the attributes and relationships based on the selected context, locale, and enhancer attributes.

    Result: A confirmation message “Download template process is initiated” is displayed with the task status id.

  1. Click the Show Task Details button.

    Result: The Task Details page is displayed.

  1. Click the Download icon.

    Result: The domain specific template is downloaded to your local system. Open the excel file to view the domain specific template. The sample screenshots of the all the sheets are displayed.

View Download Template in Task Status

You can view the status of the Download Template. For more information, see Task Status.

To view the download template status:

  1. Click the Task Status icon from the application header.

    Result: The Task Status drawer is displayed.

  2. Select the Entity Data Template from the Type drop-down list.

Result: By default, your download tasks are displayed.

  1. Click on the file link to download the excel to your system or click on the View Details link to display the Task Status page.

    Result: You can view the status of your task or click the Download icon to download the template to your local system.
