Data Syndication from PIM (Based on Channel Context) to Recipient in Syndication

Note:

This feature is designed to meet the specific requirements of a particular customer and is not applicable to other audiences.

To overcome the limitation of syndicating the product information of an entity with either the global level or context level values (Data Syndication from PIM to Syndication based on Context), data syndication from PIM based on channel context to a recipient in Syndication is introduced. Here, the syndicated product information from PIM to Syndication can be viewed both in the global level and context level values. This is achieved by using an attribute called Recipient ID. When a channel context in PIM is mapped to a recipient in Syndication, the product information from the channel context is syndicated to the recipient in Syndication.

The following image represents the data syndication from a retailer in PIM to a recipient in Syndication:

Scenario: Syndicate the item: Food with channel context: Walmart (USA) from PIM to the recipient: Demo Food Company in Syndication.

The following table represents the channel in the PIM application and the account and recipient in the Syndication application used for the syndication of product information:

Entity Context: Locale PIM Channel Supplier Syndication Account Syndication Recipient
Food Global: English and Walmart (USA): English Walmart (USA) Demo Account Foodservice Demo Food Company
Note:

The data syndication to the recipient in Syndication is supported for both GDSN and non-GDSN suppliers.

Prerequisite

To syndicate the product information from PIM to a recipient in Syndication, it is required to have the intended recipients in the PIM application before the syndication operation.

Add Syndication Recipients in the PIM Application

To add the Syndication recipients to the PIM application, perform the following:

  1. Go to Reference Data Library and select Syndication Recipients from the Type dropdown menu.

Notes:
  • Recipient ID is available on the Syndication application.

  • The mapping of channel context in PIM to a recipient in Syndication is unique. For example, Walmart (USA) channel is mapped to only one recipient: Demo Food Company. It should not be mapped to another recipient: Demo Wholesale Group.

For more information on how to syndicate the product information from PIM to Syndication, refer to steps 4–6 in Data Syndication from PIM to Syndication.

Notes:
  • It is not recommended to simultaneously syndicate the product information in multiple contexts. For example, you must not simultaneously syndicate the product information in Global and Walmart (USA) contexts. But you can syndicate the product information first in Global context, then in Walmart (USA) context.

  • You can syndicate the product information of the multivalued attributes that are inherited in the channel context from the global context. For example, you have selected the channel context: Walmart (USA). The Trade Item Marketing Message attribute has inherited the values: Pure, Tender Goodness: Our Organic Chicken Breast and Fuel Your Body with Clean Protein: Organic Chicken Breast from the Global context. After syndication, these values are displayed on the recipient: Demo Food Company in Syndication.
