A Deeply Nested Attribute (DNA) consists of a set of attributes that are grouped and reused consistently to maintain data in multiple-levels (hierarchical structure). For example, nutritional values, technical specifications, product specifications, and so on.

You can manage a DNA in a single structured record (non-collection) or multiple structured records (collection). Each child-level (zeroth level or nth child-level) within a DNA supports Textbox, Integer/Decimal, Boolean, Date/Datetime, Reference, Units of Measurements (UOM), and DNA. For more information, see Understand supported attribute types.
When a DNA is a collection attribute, you can:
- Add multiple structured records
- Repeat or extend child levels within a record
When a DNA is a non-collection attribute, you can:
- Add only one structured record
- Maintain a single set of values across all child levels
