Map Attributes in Exchange

Prev Next

Attribute mapping connects the PIM and Syndication data models. Each attribute in a PIM data model is mapped to a corresponding attribute in Syndication, so that product data authored in PIM flows through to the recipients it is syndicated to. In the Product Details Page (PDP) of Brand PXC, this is what allows values entered in the global view to appear in the recipient view.

Mappings are currently configured manually. Automation of the standard out-of-the-box mappings is on the roadmap and will be available by September 2026.
Once it is in place, you will typically use this page only to review existing mappings.

To map PIM (EDS) attributes to Syndication (CES) attributes, complete the following steps:

  1. Attribute Mapping: PIM to Syndication
    a. Map a PIM attribute to an existing global(public) attribute in Syndication
    b. Create and map a private attribute
  2. Publish the mapping

1. Attribute mapping: PIM to Syndication

a. Map a PIM attribute to an existing global (public) attribute in Syndication:

Where a suitable global (public) attribute already exists in Syndication, map the PIM attribute directly to it. This is the preferred approach - global (public) attributes are standard and shared, so no additional configuration is needed for the data to reach from the global view of PDP to the recipient view of PDP.

  1. In the Exchange tenant, select your tenant's name by checking Tenant column.

  2. Select the required attribute to map from PIM.

  3. Locate the CES Attribute (Syndication Attribute) under Target Attributes and click the Edit icon to map the existing EDS (PIM) attribute to the appropriate CES (Syndication) attribute.

  2. Review the generated attribute details. The CES attribute properties are inherited from the EDS attribute.
  3. Click Save Changes to save all the PIM to Syndication attribute mappings.

2. Publish the mapping

Once all of the attribute mappings are completed, we need to publish these mappings to ensure a successful sync between PIM attributes and Syndication attributes.
To publish the mapped attributes:

  1. Click Publish after the mapping is saved.

  2. After the Publish Complete message appears, click Refresh.

  3. Verify that the attribute status changes to No Issues in the left attributes panel.

Once attribute mapping is complete, proceed with the recipient configuration process.
